Having learnt on Friday evening of the existence of a Turkish translation of Alice made from the Bulgarian (!) and published in Sofia in 1968, I rushed to the National Library on the next morning and found it listed in the card file. Mouth all watering, I wrote a request, but I was told it was kept in the Oriental Collection, which was closed on Saturdays, so I had to wait for Monday.
Today the Oriental Collection people came back with the response that it had been moved to temporary storage, where it lies in an unsorted heap and is impossible to locate. If this means that the library began doing some householding work, ran out of funds in the middle and is now waiting for more from the state budget, then things don't look good for this book (and presumably many others).
