An old Gypsy man, who was there, lying (like) a snake in the grass, saw him. He went to the King. He cut the bough down, and let Edward go free again.
    The King gave him thanks, and said to him, “Who art thou?”
    He spoke thus: “An old poor Gypsy (man) am I.”
    The King said, “I will let thee go where thou likest, and sleep where thou likest, in all my kingdom; and all other Gypsies too are free to do so.”
